The American University of the Middle East is dedicated to enhancing access to basic services for all through various programs and initiatives. Below are few examples:

• Providing Health Awareness and Support: The full details of health awareness and support is provided in SDG 3. 

• Educational Philosophy that Promotes Innovation and Digital Literacy: Providing and hosting community literacy programs focused on digital and innovation skills. 

• Enhancing Access to Infrastructure: Raising awareness on sustainable energy solutions (e.g. solar power), water pollution prevention, etc.

• Promoting Financial Literacy: Offering workshops on financial literacy and supporting entrepreneurial programs for individuals seeking to start small businesses to improve their economic standing.

Educational Philosophy that promotes Innovation and Digital Literacy

AUM seeks to equip its students with a solid intellectual and academic foundation by encouraging students to develop knowledge beyond education by providing them with a genuine learning experience. The university adopts a Learner-Centered Approach, which focuses on understanding the learner in the context of a well-crafted learning experience. Students are the focus of the learning approach and they benefit from an optimal and holistic experience. The AUM curriculum is a reflection of its educational philosophy. It orbits around four compatible well- integrated components that assist students in a creative learning process. 

• Foundations and Theories: This component equips students with a solid academic foundation and helps them develop their conceptual and intellectual abilities through classroom learning experience, innovative lecture delivery, and various modes of learning and assessment delivery methods.

• Experiential Learning: This component aims at developing the students’ technical know-how by engaging them in practical application through project based, problem based, and experiential learning experience delivered in various settings including, but not limited to, classrooms, labs, workshops, various centers, and internships.

• Soft Skills: This component aims at developing the students’ behavioral, interpersonal, and organizational skills. AUM encourages student clubs and extracurricular activities in sports, sciences, arts, and social development. This is in addition to the core Liberal Arts component of the curriculum with its various courses and activities.

• Research and Creativity: This component favors the development of the students’ innovative, independent and critical thinking skills. The faculty members’ experience and their involvement in research guide students through the processes of discovery, interpretation, and the development of new methods and systems.

Example of Workshops and Programs to enhance Access to Infrastructure

• Future of Electricity in Kuwait: In this workshop, participants learn about the existing electrical network in Kuwait, renewable energy sources applications, future plans and challenges.

• Sustainable Solutions for strengthening unreinforced masonry (URM) Buildings: The seminar addresses the critical challenge of enhancing the structural integrity and resilience of URM buildings through sustainable and innovative methods.

• Green hydrogen - Fueling the Future organized by the Green Energy club: This seminar enables minds to nurture ideas, develop prototypes and engineer sustainable solutions to one of the key challenges faced by the world in meeting the growing demand in energy.

Example of Workshops and Programs on Financial Literacy

• Introduction to capital budgeting and project evaluation: This workshop aims at introducing the capital budgeting process as a main cornerstone of the investment decision.

• Young Entrepreneurs: This workshop successfully introduces to the fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, providing with a comprehensive understanding of essential concepts. It effectively nurtures and develops entrepreneurial skills and mindset among the participants, fostering a dynamic and innovative outlook. 

• Dream it. Build it. Be the CEO: Design Your Destiny in Business: The workshop successfully motivates participants to pursue entrepreneurship by providing them with essential business knowledge and entrepreneurial skills. Through hands-on guidance, participants refine their business concepts, receiving valuable feedback to shape viable ideas. Practical insights into the startup ecosystem are shared.

• Design Stunning YouTube Ads: The workshop encourages students to generate and discuss ideas and provided an extra layer of technicality that any YouTube business user should be aware of. The activity discusses the general anatomy of viral ads and successful online campaigns. 

• Corporate financial planning and analysis: The workshop aims at training participants on the use and application of various Microsoft Excel Tools for different corporate functions specific to financial planning and analysis.
